Speech Language Pathology

Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) are trained to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, and cognitive communication in both children and adults. SLPs are communication experts. Here at Moxie, our SLP values trust and rapport as the basis for all progress, with an understanding that regulation is a requirement for learning. Sessions are designed to address an individual’s and family’s highest priority goals while maintaining evidence-based practice, developmental appropriateness, and client-led activities.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists (OTs) are uniquely trained to use clinical reasoning skills to encourage and motivate clients to address their challenges, both big and small. A child’s “occupations” include playing, interacting with friends, being part of a family, learning, and doing self-care tasks. If your child is struggling to get through the day because of lagging emotional regulation, attention, or motor skills, OT can probably help!

With a neurodiversity-affirming approach, and together with the child and family, we make a plan for how to best tackle daily challenges at home and in the community. Our OTs value relationship-building and use a playful approach to foster a feeling of being safe and heard. Sessions are individualized to each child’s unique needs and will incorporate developmentally appropriate, therapeutic activities that help the child achieve their goals and build confidence.

Evaluations

Assessment materials are determined based on individual need and are comprised of age-appropriate, standardized assessments combined with subjective clinical observations and an extensive medical and social history.

SLP assessment will observe any skills related to communication. This may include an oral mechanism exam, speech, language, fluency, executive function, or social communication.

OT assessment will look at any skills that impact daily functioning, which may include gross motor, fine motor, visual perceptual, visual motor, sensory processing, social-emotional, motor planning, and executive functioning skills.

What Our Clients Say:

“Nozomi provided amazing support for our 9 year-old autistic child, helping him build sensory integration and self-regulation skills and tools. Her playful approach makes sessions fun, she is a keen observer and incredible at building connection and rapport. Our child always looked forward to sessions and demonstrated tremendous growth in self-awareness through the year we spent working with her.

Nozomi also provided invaluable support for us as parents, listening carefully and brainstorming ideas for how we could best help our child thrive. While we entered OT services seeking evaluation and services for sensory processing, she also identified our child as in need of a more complete autism evaluation and helped expedite that process. I would highly recommend her OT services to children in need of support, particularly neurodivergent kids.”

“Jordyn and Nozomi have worked with my teen for a year and positively impacted our child's learning, self-knowledge, and sense of possibility for solving problems with trustworthy adults. This has also helped our family life, because we have learned a new lens through which to understand our child’s strengths and challenges and empathize better.

Jordyn and Nozomi embody neurodiversity-affirming interactions and my teen is always lifted up spending time with them, even on hard days when leaving the house would be otherwise difficult. I am grateful for these positive relationships with wonderful adults who have helped my teen have more agency in their life. I wish we had found them years ago.”

“Jordyn and Nozomi have been seeing my neurodivergent son for the past six months, and not only have they established a warm and comfortable relationship with him, but they have also been able to see past the surface level challenges and have begun to directly address the foundational imbalances that lead to so many of his struggles. From strengthening his motor planning and proprioception to improving his organizational awareness of his daily schedule, both Jordyn and Nozomi have given my son gifts that as a tired parent, I so appreciate!”
